Can the processor on the board be tristated or disconnected so that the DRV881 can be connected to other controls(step, init, dir, etc.) from outside the board?

    Hi Ray,

    Unfortunately, with the firmware as it is, this is not possible. If you have access to a MSP430 FET programmer, I can send you a firmware version with this feature. If so, please feel free to write directly to me at jquinones@ti.com. Other options are:

    1. Removing the MSP430 microcontroller with a heat gun.

    2. There are some open source simple boards which only contain the DRV8811 and passive components along with a header to connect your own microcontroller.
