DRV110: [Repost]Can I use as a High-side Controller?

Part Number: DRV110

Hello,

We would like to use DRV110 as a high-side Controller.

I'm thinking way to use as following image;

Can we use DRV110 as High-side controller?

Sho.

  • Hi Sho-san,

    You cannot use DRV110 as high-side controller. DRV110 is a low-side controller.

Based on your schematic, the solenoid voltage (at high-side FET source) is undefined and so the DRV110 OUT pin (gate voltage) will likely be less than the required V_GS to control the high-side FET.

Perhaps I could refer you to another product if you could provide additional details to your schematic

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin-san,

I'm sorry late reply, and thank you for your reply.

I understand that DRV110 is only used a low-side controller.

I can provide additional details to schematic.

In addition, I have two question.

Q1. I would like to use DRV110 in an LS circuit, but when I simulated on LTSPICE, the current value of ISENSE was measured lower than actual current.
I think that the cause is the resonance between the solenoid and the Zener (D39), Is it correct? Are there any countermeasures? (78V Zener cannot be removed)
Q2. If there is no countermeasure for Q1, I would like to use HS drive. Is there any concern?

    High-side driver

    Low-side driver

    Sincerely yours,

    Sho

  • Hello Sho-san,

Please allow me a moment to review your design and get back to you on this.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin-san,

Thank you for your reply, I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks,

    Sho

  • Hi Sho-san,

Like you mentioned, zener paired with solenoid, could cause the ISENSE shift, however I do not understand why this would be the case. My guess is there is an issue with SPICE model. Could you share details to your expected ISENSE value? Also, schematic images are low resolution, Is there a chance you could re-upload?

My only concern is the fact that DRV110 is not intended to be used in high-side configuration,

    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin-san,

I would like to attach Schematics of high resolution and ISENSE Value, Could you please tell me about attachment method of ZIP file?

    Thanks,

    Sho

  • Hi Sho-san,
