DRV8873SEVM: out 1 and out2 are connected directly to DC motor

Part Number: DRV8873SEVM

Hi Guys,

Good day. Could you help us check our customer's concern. I am posting this inquiry for them.

They are using DRV8873SEVM board connecting to the DRV8873x EVM software(https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvub68b/slvub68b.pdf).

However when they send command to drive the motor, it is not working. The out 1 and out2 are connected directly to DC motor. The power terminal is 24vdc.

The software notification start motor success, but the DC motor not moving at all. Should we give high logic to the EN or PH pins on the board side. Upon our understanding the software can give logic HIGH or LOW automatically depending on operation mode.

Attached picture for the device connection. The red and black on the left side connected to the power supply. On the picture the USB was not connected to the computer.

We are hoping that you could help us guide and solve our problem. Thank you.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

The GUI should be able to change the states of PH and EN signals. Can you disconnect the motor from the board and configure the GUI control page as shown below. The "REVERSE" and "FORWARD" button controls the PH signal and IN1 control the EN signal. probe the two signals on the EVM to verify that the signals are changing. If it is not, then there might be some connection issues with the EVM and GUI.

  • Hi Pablo,

    Here is our customer's feedback.

For the basic operation with PH/EN was solved.
Their final goal is to control the motor with closed loop control.
Thay have already made a GUI using another controller for positioning and speed control with encoders as a feedback and I want to integrate all the systems with this board.
We appreciate your sopport on this.
    Best regards,
    Jonathan
