DRV8434A: Won't automatically restart after thermal shutdown.

Hi there,

Having some issues with a design. We have the DRV8434A in a typical application with VM running at 48V. We found that after a while the motor would shutdown from over temperature. This wasn't too much of a problem, we lowered VM so the fault wouldn't occur so quickly, but even after this adjustment, we found that the chip wouldn't automatically restart once T has dropped (factoring in the hysteresis). Is there something fundamental we're missing?

The device should the chip should automatically restart once T has dropped (factoring in the hysteresis).

Where do you measure the temperature?

Hi Wang,

The temperature measurement was only crudely done, we set the motor running and heated the component with a soldering iron. Once it was heated the motor stopped running. After waiting for about half an hour, the chip had cooled down and was fine to touch but the Bridge and Pump were still disabled. After power cycling, the motor comes back on straight away.
