DRV8705-Q1: about Shunt Amplifier Anti-Pinch Implementation

Part Number: DRV8705-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8703-Q1,

About DRV8703-Q1  Anti-Pinch Implementation, please see page 13 in the following link:

www.ti.com/.../tiducq9a.pdf

The DRV8703-Q1 with current regulation function,  for DC motors, current regulation is used to limit the start-up and stall current of the motor.

However in the DRV8705-Q1 datasheet ,can not find current regulation function.

Is DRV8705-Q1 not a update product from DRV8703-Q1?  Why is Ichop current setting removed from DRV8705-Q1?

If DRV8705-Q1 used, can it use shunt amplifier to do Anti-Pinch?

  • Hi Zhengwei,

Is DRV8705-Q1 not a update product from DRV8703-Q1?  Why is Ichop current setting removed from DRV8705-Q1?

The DRV8705-Q1 is a different device than the DRV8703-Q1. They both have different features. The is an integrated current sensing amplifier and a dedicated SO pin to monitor the current through an external ADC.

If DRV8705-Q1 used, can it use shunt amplifier to do Anti-Pinch?

You can implement an anti-pinch algorithm via an MCU. The SO pin can be connected to an ADC of an MCU and can adjust the control inputs depending on the current being measured.
