Hai,

How do we calculate the total power dissipation(static and dynamic) of DRV8343 Driver IC?

Hello Rony,

Please see below for an approximate calculation:

Power dissipation total:

Quiescent power = I_VM * VM
External DVDD LDO power (optional) = I_DVDD * (VM – V_DVDD)
Charge Pump & VGSL power:
- (N/2) * (Q_g * f_PWM) * ([VM-V_GSL]+[VM-V_GSH]), N = number of MOSFETs switching per cycle
- i.e. one ½-H bridge switching is N = 2 MOSFETs, trapezoidal commutation for BLDC motor is N = 2 MOSFETs, discontinuous sine/FOC control is N = 4 MOSFETs, continuous sine/FOC control is N = 6 MOSFETs

Thanks Matt for the quick support.

I was actually performing a Worst case analysis for a circuit containg DRV8343. Supply voltage is 30 (Vm). How do we take Vgsl and Vgsh values theoretically.

In datasheet only values corresponding Vm =13 V is given.

Hi Ronie,

VGSL and VGSH at VM = 30V will be about the same as the VM = 13V case - the charge pump and low-side LDO are trying to regulate to 11V nominally. Check out Figure 4 for the VCP example.
