DRV8350: Protection features for stopping motor driver output

Part Number: DRV8350

Hello team,

What is the protection feature that automatically stops the motor driver output?

Best regards,

Shotaro

  • Hello Shotaro,

In the following sections of the DRV8350 datasheet, you will learn about each of the protection features that provides a fault, disables all external FETs, and stops commutation:

    • 8.3.6.1: VM Supply and VDRAIN Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO)
    • 8.3.6.2: VCP Charge-Pump and VGLS Regulator Undervoltage Lockout (GDUV)
    • 8.3.6.3: MOSFET VDS Overcurrent Protection (VDS_OCP)
      • This particular feature will not disable the FETs if you are in "VDS Report Only" or "VDS Disabled" OCP modes - read more about these modes below section 8.3.6.3
    • 8.3.6.4: VSENSE Overcurrent Protection (SEN_OCP)
      • FETs will not be disabled during "Vsense Report Only" and "Vsense Disabled" OCP modes - read more below section 8.3.6.4
    • 8.3.6.5: Gate Driver Fault (GDF)
    • 8.3.6.8: Thermal Shutdown (OTSD)

Please let me know if you have any additional questions

    best,

    Johnny

  • Hello Shotaro-san,

Do you need any further assistance on this thread?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt-san,

The customer understood the features for protection, and as of now they do not have any question.

Currently they are building a proto board for evaluation of the system.

    Best regards,

    Shotaro
