Hi,

I need to design new stepper motor driver with this parameters:

Voltage = 48VDC (use only on final stage LMG5200 )

Current (max) = 10A

PWM = 140KHz (Sin and Cos will came from our other board)

Stepper Motor = Have 200 step/1.8Deg.    

I would like to use this combination. Controller DRV7811 + LMG5200 power stage solution 80V/10A.

like to ask if it possible to do that ?

  • Arie,

    1. DRV8711 can drive discrete power FETs as the high side switch and the low side switch. LMG5200's HI input pin seems not match DRV8711's output.

    2. What is the 48V input voltage range? DRV8711's recommended power supply voltage is up to 52V. The absolute maximum voltage is 60V.

    3. DRV8711 minimum dead time setting is 400ns. In dead time, the FET's body diode would go through the main output current and a N-channel FET's body diode voltage could  be 1V.   A small package FET may not have a good thermal performance. Would you set the PWM frequency lower around 50kHz?
