DRV8343-Q1: How to close the 6 MOS tubes

Part Number: DRV8343-Q1

Instruction: DRV8343 drive chip write to close 6 MOS tubes via C1 (address 0x04).

Result: The MOS tube is not turned off, but the instruction is written in, as shown in the figure below:

NOTE: a. The 6xPWM mode is currently used.

b. The voltage at the MOS tube is still the output voltage of the PWM after the shutdown instruction is written.

The customer would like to know the way to close the MOS tubes. Thanks!

Hello Cherry,

I believe that 1PWM_BRAKE will only work when you are operating in 1xPWM mode.

The customer can command brake through the input PWM signals.

The customer also would like to know if it is possible to change the mode to 1xPWM mode while the motor is running, and then use the shutdown command in 1PWM_BREKE. Will this have an impact on the motor?

Hello Cherry,

I would not recommend changing the PWM mode while running because the device may miss-commutate.

As the figure below:

Writing a 1 to bit 7 of the IC9 register (address 0x0C) puts the MOS tube in a high-impedance state. The customer would like to know if this is the way to turn off the 6 MOS tubes and then turn off the motor?

Hello Cherry,

Using this bit will turn off all six MOSFETs (coast mode). The motor will coast to a stop if this bit is used.
