DRV8889-Q1: How to reset indexer by the software

Hello Team,

I got a similar question from the customer.
During operation, if we change the MICROSTEP_MODE[3:0] in CTRL3, is the Indexer reset to initial?
To reset indexer, needs to be in UVLO or nSleep=L in the previous comment.
These requires Hard Reset (from pin), is there any method by the register change to reset indexer.

Yes. UVLO or nSleep=L or toggling Enable pin can reset indexer. Could they try disabling the output from the register?

I don't see a way to do this with internal SPI registers. Can you explain why they want this feature?

Hi Ryan,

The reason why the customer is looking for the way to reset indexer,
MCU is rest by something error detection during operation, then MCU lost the position where the DRV8889 step was.
In this case, they want indexer to be initial.

OK, makes sense. In that case, I think the only option is hardware as Wang mentioned before. This is good feedback to add a register option in new devices.
