DRV8316: Getting status for current limiting

Hello E2E,

The customer is using the DRV8316 in current limiting mode.

Is there a way to get the status from the DRV8316 to see if it is in current limit status?

    Hello ACGUY,

    There is not a bit in a register that indicates when the device is in the current limit status. What you should see is that the high side FETs will be disabled and the device will enter a brake state or a coast state depending on what you have selected for ILIM_RECIR if using the SPI variant.

    If you are using the brake state perhaps checking SOx to see if the low side FETs are recirculating current through them might be a good indicator that you have hit the current limit.
