MCT8316Z: MCT8613Z - ordre number (??)

Part Number: MCT8316Z

About the output from internal buck converter: I have supply (VM) on 12V, planning to tier VSEL_VB (pin 24) to ground What will the output of VSEL_BK be?

Useing resistor on 22ohm and 22uF capacitor. Page 10 in datasheet is not very clear on this point, if VM is above 6V i will get 3.3V (wanted) if VM is above 6.7V i will get 5.7V (not wanted).

  • Hello Karsten,

    The buck output can be configured to be 3.3V, 4.0V, 5.0V, or 5.7V based on the configuration of the VSEL_BK pin (tied to GND, disconnected, 47k to AVDD, or tied to AVDD). When VSEL_BK is tied to GND, the buck output is 3.3V.

    If VM is <6V, the buck output will be lower than expected based on the equation given in the datasheet.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Datasheet page 10 is not clear.

    If VVM > 6 V, 0 mA ≤ IBK ≤ 40 mA, VSEL_BK pin tied to AGND -> output will be 3.3V

    If VVM > 6.7 V, 0 mA ≤ IBK ≤ 40 mA, VSEL_BK pin to AGND  -> output will be 5.7V

    Both have VSEL_BK to AGND - input is different -> my system have VVM on +12V; what is output??

  • Hello Karsten,

    It would appear that the last line is a typo, because the 4th setting should be configured by "VSEL_BK pin to AVDD"

    You can refer to the top of page 12 to show the four different configurations for a 4-level input.

    Thanks,

    Matt
