DRV8432

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8412, CONTROLSUITE

Hello,

My customer is going to use DRV8432 for driving bipolar stepper motor and would like to use microstepping.

Can he use mode M3M2M1 = 011 or he needs to use one of the modes like M3M2M1 = 000 or 001.

Can you provide a timing diagram of the PWM signals for CW/CCW motor driving?  And what is about microstepping?

Thanks in advance.

Igor

  • Igor,

Not sure how I missed this.  At one point, the link was broken.

We released a kit with the C2000 that provides all the needed control and open source software for controlling stepper motors with varying degrees of micro-stepping up to 128 microsteps.  The kit is released as DRV8412-C2-Kit.  The DRV8412 is identical to DRV8432 in function.  The DRV8432 just allows higher power operation with an external heatsink.

I recommend that you order a DRV8412-C2-Kit or download the documentation.  The links are shown below for both the kit and the documentation.  Once you experiment with the DRV8412, all the learning can be applied to the DRV8432.

ControlSUITE link that includes all the documentation for the kit including a white paper on microstepping.

To answer your first question, the M3M2M1 = 011 mode can be used for stepper to control the 2-phases of the stepper motor with 2 control signals.
