MCF8316AEVM: connetivity

Part Number: MCF8316AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8316A

Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

when I try to connect it goes out and tries but comes back with "cannot read address 0x20AA" then disconnects.
What can I do? It seems like the 430 isn't wanting to talk. D6 is red
the other side of the board shows a fault LED. D2

Thanks so much.

Best regards,
Yuki

  • Hi Yuki,

After the GUI connects to the EVM, could you please confirm that the customer sees the "Hardware Connected" status on the bottom left of the GUI?

At this point, they should observe LED D6 blinking slowly @ about once per second.

Next, if they click on the "Read All Registers" button, they should see D6 blink rapidly for several seconds. And a small popup on the bottom left of the GUI indicating "Read 77 registers."

Also, 0x20AA is not a valid register address on the MCF8316A, could you please help check how they are using the GUI to read and perhaps provide me a screenshot of the error "cannot read address 0x20AA"?

    Thanks,
    Eric C.
