LM1949: electric motor brake

Part Number: LM1949

My customer is evaluating using LM1949 (-55ºC)

The data from the control of the brake of an electric motor are:

Winding resistance: 3.2 Ohm 10%
Inductance: 1.6 Henry +/- 30%
Release current: I> 3.2 A kept during at least 150 msec
Holding current: 1.1 A <I <1.3 A

Are there any additional application notes or tools for calculations of this application?

They are also considering swapping the Darlington for a mosFET. Can you confirm if it is viable, and we you have an application sheet made with mosfet, or simulation already done?

Thanks and best regards,

Juan.

  • Juan,

There is no any additional application notes or tools for calculations of this application except the datasheet.

I don't think a mosFET can replace the darlington transistor to have a good current regulation because the mosFET is turned on by a voltage source. But, Darlington transistor is controlled by a current source.
