MCT8316ZTEVM: How to change the max RPM of the motor?

Part Number: MCT8316ZTEVM

Hi there

I have a MCT8316ZTEVM and a EC60 flat BLDC-motor from maxon.

The motor has 7 pole pairs and a max rotating speed of 3700 rpm.

With the MCT8316ZTEVM the max rotating speed I can realize is 2000 rpm.

What do I have to do to get a rotating speed of 3700 rpm?

Best regards

Markus

  • Hi Markus,

Thanks for posting to the MD forum!

What supply voltage are you operating the motor at?

Increasing the operating voltage will correspond to a higher obtainable rpm.

Please also ensure that the current limit of your supply is able to meet the nominal current of the motor.

    Thanks,
    Eric C.

  • Hey Markus,

There are a couple of EC 60 flat motors, could you please provide the specifications for the motor that you are using? I did a quick check and noticed most of the EC 60 motors I saw were 100W motors and above. The MCT8316ZTEVM can handle ~70W motors before you start running into thermal problems when running at max speed. Thank you!

    Best,

    Isaac
