I have an application which requires a TEC module to be driven in both directions and I am considering a motor driver as a solution to achieve this. Driving a TEC with a raw PWM signal will result in reduced performance, hence I would like to add an inductor in series with the TEC to make it look more like a motor and minimise ripple current.
Are there any guidelines or rules of thumb I can use to size an appropriate inductior and/or are there any additional components that I should add (i.e. capacitors) to get better performance?
The TEC I am planning to use has an internal resistance of 0.8 Ohm +-10%. The max current is 15A but I only plan to drive it up to 8A or less.
