DRV8323: TDRIVE MOSFET Gate Drive Control

Hello,

We have a question regarding DRV8323: we are seeing gate driver faults triggered by long turn on/off times for some of our FETs. To select the appropriate IDRIVE setting, we are trying to determine the margin we have before triggering a GDF by having the tDRIVE time expire. Since we are using the hardware variant of the gate driver, we expect our tDRIVE to be 4us. Referring to section 8.3.1.4.2 TDRIVE: MOSFET Gate Drive Control it says:

Could you please tell us what VGS threshold is required before tDRIVE expires and we trigger a gate driver fault?

Hey Keith,

Thanks for the question and posting to the MD forum. You are correct the hardware variant tDRIVE is fixed at 4us.

I believe the VGS voltage must be greater than 2V in order to trigger a GDF fault. I will confirm with the team tomorrow and get back to you then. We appreciate your patience.

Hey Keith,

The VGS thresholds should be the following:

VGS rising edge:

Threshold: Typ: 1.5V; min: 1.0V; max: 1.9V

VGS falling edge:

Threshold: Typ:1.95V; min: 1.4V; max: 2.3V
