Hi team

My customer is wondering what are the main differences between the 56pin RVJ and 40 pin RHA package for the DRV8714SQ1, what are the advantages and disadvantages? Which one should I recommend to our customer? I have seen the thermal performance is different and what about other performance or paratmers? Please kindly help to analyze the pros and cons so that we could help customer understand the differences clearly, thank you!

    Hello!

    Since this device is a gate driver, the thermal concerns are not great. 

    Two reasons to choose larger package:

    1)  Large package is pin-to-pin with the DRV8718S-Q1 (8-channel device).  This allows scalability in design.

    2)  Larger package has an AREF pin.

    In the smaller package, AVREF = DVDD.
