Hello,
I am looking for a brushless DC motor driver that is in stock and can support 100W. The motor driver would ideally have integrated MOSFETS.
Thanks for the help!

Hey Jerry,
Thanks for posting to the MD forum! Would you be able to provide any more info, current requirement or voltage requirements for the application? Is this a sensored or sensorless application? Looking forward to your response, thanks!
Best,
Isaac
Hi Isaac,
Thanks for the reply. The application uses USBPD communication so the motor driver must support a voltage range of 5-20V and up to 5A. I do not yet know whether it will be a sensored or sensorless application. Are there motor drivers that support both? If not, perhaps both options can be provided?
Thanks,
Jerry
Hey Jerry,
This sounds like a good fit for the DRV8316. This is an integrated FET device with up to 8A peak and up 40V max applications. The DRV8316 requires external control to drive the motor and it supports both sensored and sensorless operation. This device should be released at some time this month but we have the evaluation module available now to begin evaluation: www.ti.com/.../DRV8316REVM
We also just released the MCF/MCT8316 which have the same integrated FET capabilities as the DRV8316 mentioned above, but these devices all offer integrated control in case that is something you are interested in. MCF offers FOC and MCT versions offer trapezoidal control. If you look at the MCF/MCT8316 family of devices those can vary between sensored and sensorles, for example MCT8316A is sensorless and MCT8316Z is for sensored applications. I hope these suggestions help, and feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Isaac
