DRV8432: usage issue

Part Number: DRV8432

Hi team,

Here's a issue from the customer may need your help:

The customer would like to use this chip to control two DC motors for commutation, speed regulation, braking.

One of the previously used chips is a pin inputting pwm duty cycle speed, two pins controlling direction and braking. But only four half-bridge input pins are seen on this chip.

For example, if the motor is connected to the outa and outb pins, is it needed to enter the pwm wave on both the pwma and pwmb pins? The pwm duty cycle on the pwma pin is 0, which is equivalent to low level. The pwm duty cycle on pwmb isn't 0 indicating that rotate in the same direction, changing the duty cycle allows for speed regulation. The other direction is the opposite of the two pins.

a. However, according to section 7.4 of the data manual, the input fixed logic level is not supported when the chip is operating in 1.2.4 mode. That is, the input pwm of full duty cycle or 0 duty cycle is not supported, so how to adjust the speed and commutation?

b. And for the Chapter 4 mode, one pmwa pin can control the outa and outb pins, one pin control one motor, then how to adjust the speed and the commutation?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry
