MCT8316ZTEVM: Motor damage occurred during operation test.

Part Number: MCT8316ZTEVM

Hello

Motor damage occurred during operation test at my customer company.

I have attached image of the motor specifications and wiring during testing.

HV (Hall IC) output is not checked after damage occurs.

Please check whether the above specification of motor control is available with MCT8316ZTEVM.

Any advice on testing please?

Best regards.

  • Hi Louis,

Your connections and H/W setup look correct to me. A few things to check:

    - Did the motor spin okay at any point?
    - Did you plug in the micro-USB to spin the motor?
    - When you powered the EVM and applied the micro-USB, did the ref LED above the MCU come on? (this means the code is running)
    - Did the green VBK LED come on when the code was running? (this means the device was on and working)
    - Was the speed at 0% (pot turned all the way clockwise) before spinning the motor? Instantaneous speed changes could result in too much current through the motor perhaps.
    - Did the nFAULT LED come on at any point?
    - Does HV have any discontinuity or bad connection to the connector?

It's unusual to see motor driver damage with this EVM, so this is why I'm asking a lot of basic questions to see if there was any unusual about the test setup.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron

We will change the motor and contact you again after testing.

    I close this issue.

    Best regards
