DRV10983: DRV10983 operation without MCU

Part Number: DRV10983

Dear Sir/Ms.

My customer is evaluating the DRV10983 for his new fan product. His product industrial control cooling fan.

The specifications now known are
24V/0.2A at normal operation.

 startup peak current  is unknown.

My customer want to take off MCU after  program the EEPROM.

Can the DRV10983 run without MCU after program the EEPROM?

Best Regards,

Kami Huang

  • Hello Kami,

Thanks for posting to the MD forum.

We have had some customers do this in the past with success, unfortunately the speed cannot be saved in EEPROM.

So yes the customer would have to program the devices EEPROM to the required settings. Once that is done you may set with a voltage on the SPEED pin, this can be set to either in analog mode to set at a specific voltage that will yield a specific speed or if the customer wants to run device at 100% duty cycle they can also set it to a set voltage via 1x PWM mode. If their application requires various speed settings then they would need to find a workaround to adjust the voltage delivered to their SPEED pin. As long as the peak current is below 3A then this device should work for them.

    I hope this helps!

    Best,

    Isaac
