DRV8332: Regarding reference design with one or two shunt register

Part Number: DRV8332

Hi support team.

I received some question from my customer below.

1. Can DRV8332 use with one or two shunt resister?

2.Do you have the reference design with one or two shunt resister?

if yes, could you let me know the reference design URL (or provide document. )

Best regards,

Higa

  • Hi Higa,

DRV8332 could use one or two shunt resistor.
For one shunt, please tie GND_A, GND_B, and GND_C together and use a common shunt from the tied GNDs to the power stage GND.
For two shunts, please place shunt from GND_A, GND_B, or GND_C pin like shown in section 9.2.1. for two of the three GNDs. The other GND can be connected directly to the power stage GND.

We have a one-shunt trapezoidal control BLDC reference design here. It is external FET: You can use for firmware design. https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-010056

We do not have reference designs for DRV83x2. Please follow EVM design or appliation diagram guidelines in datasheet for hardware design.

    Thanks,
    Aaron
