DRV8706S-Q1EVM:Sample and Hold function inquiry

Part Number: DRV8706S-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8706-Q1

I am using the DRV8706S.

The output is controlled by the PWM signal of the MCU.

A shunt resistor is used to measure the load current.

I want to maintain the Vso value until the next PWM signal by using the Vso output SAMPLE AND HOLD.

Register setting is completed. The datasheet said I had to put a capacitor on it.

How should I mount the capacitor? (H/W Design)

And what value of capacitor should I put on it?

  • Hi,

Thank you for your interest in DRV8706-Q1. As you mentioned, Vso pin needs capacitor (and resister) to hold. It also depend PWM frequency, however could you try with this?

-RC 2KHz. e.g  R=~800ohm  C=~100nF . As Datasheet described, the capacitor be after a series resistor in a RC filter configuration. RC 2KHz is example for 500Hz switching PWM.
