We are considering a system that can drive a proportional solenoid without using a microcomputer.
I would like to control the current with a resistor, etc., but please tell me a candidate for a motor driver.

In addition to the above requirements, the conditions for the motor driver to satisfy the system characteristics are as follows.

Up to 1.3A current
Voltage is steady at 12V, maximum is about 24V.
Ultimately aiming for mass production of about 3000 / month.

Hi Satou,

For this solenoid, do you require a peak and holding current? or do you plan to drive it at a fixed current all the time?

No peak current is needed for the moving core, I always want to drive with a fixed current.

Do you need automotive grade device?
What accuracy do you need for current regulation?
How much current ripple can you tolerate?

Thank you for your support, I will answer

•Do you need automotive grade device?
->About 20% of the motor current can be tolerated

•What accuracy do you need for current regulation?
-> want automotive grade.(not absolutely necessary.)

•How much current ripple can you tolerate?
-> I want accuracy that can be adjusted in 50mA steps.

Hi Shunichi-san,

Based on the requirements of your application, the DRV8243-Q1 and DRV8244-Q1 are good options. Both have low RDSon which will help you maintain up to 1.3A for a very long time without much temperature increase.
