MCF8316AEVM: LOCK_ILIMIT fault

Hi,

I set the fault configurations HW_LOCK_ILIMIT and LOCK_ILIMIT to 8A both. However, when I spin my motor at full speed, it uses 3A and the LOCK_ILIMIT fault trigger.

I'm monitoring the current with a multimeter and it doesn't register any current bigger than 3.4 A.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. I believe there should be a transient spike in phase current which is triggering LOCK_ILIMIT fault. I guess multimeters don't have sufficient bandwidth to capture such transient spikes. Can you check your motor parameters to make sure they are programmed correctly? Did you run MPET?

I'm using motor parameters that I get running MPET. They are differents from the parameters of the motor datasheet, but when I used them the driver was unable to spin the motor.

Oliver,

I'm not sure as to why there is a transient spike seen in the phase current. Can you share the configuration file (.JSON)?
