DRV8323: Write the control registers using SPI communication.

HI. experts.

I am using a DRV8323s to control a motor. I wonder what would happen if we continued reading and writing to the DRV8323s' control registers.

1. Is there any problem if I keep writing the same value to the control register?

2. Is there any problem if I change the new value in the control register and write it continuously?

I wonder if the control register of the DRV8323s has a lifespan depending on the number of writes.

Hi Banghyun,

You can write and read to the device continuously, there will be no change in value.

I would need to confirm if this can cause any acceleration in lifespan, typically TI parts have accelerated lifespan due to temperature or power sequencing.

We recommend to configure SPI after powerup and read SPI after fault events to save power and processor cycles, but I don't see any drawbacks to continuous SPI writing/reading.

Does this mean that the registers of the DRV8323s are read and written continuously but do not have a lifetime limit based on the number of writes like flash memory?

Hi Banghyun,

Continuous SPI reads/writes will not affect lifespan because the inputs are just digital toggling. No memory exists in SPI since device registers are reset after powerup.
