DRV8434S: High speed cannot drive the motor

Part Number: DRV8434S

Hi team,

Here's an issue may need your help:

Use DRV8434S as stepper motor drive unit. The motor starts jitter and does not spin after 440 rpm, the step frequency is 6410HZ, 1/4 microstepping, and the oscilloscope tests the DRV8434S waveforms as normal,  the schematic is as below:

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Cherry,

Is this during acceleration of the motor?  Most likely the customer is hitting the resonance point of the motor.  Customer can try reducing micro-step level to 1/8 or 1/16.  They would double the step frequency to achieve same speed for 1/8 and x4 for 1/16.

Alternatively, if during acceleration, they can accelerate faster to avoid this resonance point.

    Regards,
