What is the peak current and voltage you are looking for in your motor application to replace DRV8312? We have next generation integrated MOSFET devices that go up to 35V max, 8-A peak current to support <70W motors and gate driver devices that support >70W motors. 

Some good suggestions to begin with are DRV8316 and DRV8311 (integrated FET driver) and MCT8316Z, MCF8316A, and MCT8316A (integrated FET and control).

The peak voltage is 60VDC(48V nominal) and peak the current is 20 A (2A nominal). I don't see a suitable integrated MOSFET solution.

From my side, considering your application, Integrated FET may not be feasible due to high-power concerns (>100Watts) 

• 60V peak (48V nominal) 
• 20A peak (2A nominal) 

Therefore, if we are able to move towards an external FET solution, some suitable devices for your voltage level would be:

What about the DRV8323 series. Will it be a good fit for a sensored BLDC motor with a FOC commutation.

DRV835x(100V) is very similar to DRV8323(60V), but has a higher voltage rating more suitable for your application. 

I recommend taking a look at this FAQ post, which details how your DC-supply-bus can easily reach 1.5x or 2x the nominal voltage just from particular operating conditions. 

This would be situations such as motor coasting or being back-driven, for example.

Can the DRV835X be used both in a sensored as well as sensorless type feedback set up, with FOC as the commutation method.

Hi Jagbir, 

I believe that this should be okay if your commutation algorithm is being provided w/ an external MCU for the FOC code. 

The DRV835x can be operated in 3xPWM or 6xPWM mode for FOC. 

• see datasheet section '8.3.1.1 PWM Control Modes'
• in either 3x/6x control scheme, your system control loop would take the motor position feedback and feed it back to the MCU 
  • and then the MCU algorithm will decide the next INHx/INLx signals to send the DRV device and operate the pre-drivers accordingly. 
  • the feedback to the MCU can be either sensored (hall signals, rotary encoders, resolver, etc...) or sensorless (shunt amplifiers) as long as the MCU code is able to utilize this data 

On the DRV8353xx variants, there are 3x integrated CSAs to provide sensorless type feedback on the phase currents observed at the shunt resistors.

If you are using external FETs and external Current Shunt Amplifiers (CSAs), then DRV8300 would be a 100V-rated option that is viable for your application. 

• the caveat with DRV8300 would just be that it has a bootstrap-based architecture and cannot support 100% duty cycle

Is DRV835x  gate driver compatible with the GaN type FETs and will  using GaN FET have any significant benefits for my application.
