What is the different control method beteween BLDC and PMSM mortor?

The different is sin wave and square wave by PWM control?

In TI products of smart gate driver, I can control BLDC and PMSM motor both?

    Hi Liao,

    Yes, difference between the two is BLDC motors produce trapezoidal BEMF and PMSM motors produce sinusoidal BEMF. The current control to get the most torque out of motor should match the BEMF of the motor. 

    We classify many smart gate drivers at "universal control" on our product page, which means you can use trapezoidal or sinusoidal control from external MCU to spin the motor. You can find many solutions with MSP430 or C2000 MCUs on the EVM tool pages for each device.
