MCF8316A: I2C bus lock up when sending DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL

Part Number: MCF8316A

Hi Team

I2C bus lock up when sending DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL.
I'm sending DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL, every 1ms.

Send DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL about 30 to 64 times, I2C bus lock up.
DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL is 0%.

My environment:

  • MCF8316AEVM (MCF8316A 16A1V)
  • I2C at 400kHz and 200kHz tested

I'm testing PMCT8316A too, but it not lock up at DIGITAL_SPEED_CTRL at 0%.
(PMCT8316A lock up at speed over 1.2kHz)

Is there any way to improve this lock up?

By the way, all registers can be read out without any problem.

  • Kenji,

We have an errata related to this issue. Device sends back NACK when I2C transactions occur during motor operation. I would either recommend you to increase the time gap between consecutive I2C writes or use other speed control methods such as PWM or analog.

    Regards,

    Vishnu
