Purpose of a transformer between IGBT and motor?

Hello,

We have a look on many drives on the market.

If we focus on the High Power Drive only (~20A to 40A), I can see a transformer is added between the IGBT and the motor phase, like the following shematic:

Is somebody can explain to me what is the aim of this transformer?

How design it? What is the aim of the resistor set in parallel? why these values?

Thank for any information about it.

Regards
