DRV8301: Obsolescence

Hello,

I read somewhere that the DRV8301 in general is now obsolete, or soon to be so.

Is this true? I noticed on Digikey that that are a couple variants that are not recommended for new designs, but it appears as though the DRV8301DCAR is still available.

Are there plans to phase out this variant as well?

Hi Dave,

This should not be the case, this device should not be considered as obsolete as this device is still widely used today. We will look into why this shows as Obsolete on DK.

would you mind sharing the link or the specific orderable part number for DRV8301 on digikey that shows up as obsolete? There is no plan to obsolete this device, it is widely used and shipped in high volume to many of our industrial customers.

I honestly can't remember where I read that. It might have been on stackoverflow, or some random blog where I thought I might find some answers. Probably just a mistake on someone's part. I didn't mean to alarm anyone...

Anyway, when I read that, I went to Digikey to see what was up and found that a couple variants are not recommended for new designs on Digikey:

Nowhere on DK does it actually say that any variant is obsolete, sorry you got that impression.

DRV8301-Q1 is what you linked to on DK, this is in fact not recommended for new designs (NRND). You'll see that on the DRV8301-Q1 product page too.
