MCT8316AEVM: Fault Status Registers Read 0's while nFault LED Blinks

Hi, new to the eval board and try to learn and tune the motor. I saw a blink of nFault LED on the board and the motor spins then stops when I turned the pot counterclockwise. When I try to read the fault status registers, they all show 0's. Am I supposed to be able to read what caused the blink of the fault LED? Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. Yes, you can read the fault status by clicking "Auto read fault status" button located on top right of the MCT8316A GUI. When you click "Clear" button, you should see the fault getting cleared. Did you load the recommended default values in the Guided tuning section of the GUI?

Sorry for the late reply. Based on your reply, all fault conditions will be latched even the nFault signal is cleared. My understanding correct? BTW, I think I loaded recommended default values.

Tom,

When you click "Clear" button, you should see the fault getting cleared and not latched. nFault LED on the EVM should also be turned OFF.
