Hi,

me again

I am now trying to connect to the DRV8886ATEVM with Code Composer Studio and am having issues. When I try to connect I get an error:

I've tried usb1 to usb2 to usb3 with the same results.

I get a different error when trying to connect via UART:

My device is at COM5.

Any advice?

Maybe this is not possible? From a different forum post: "I think DRV8886 does not have actual debug probe that could be used to program firmware." So probably can't connect via CCS...?

Deborah,

In order to program the MCU on the EVM, you'll need an MSP-FET hardware programming tool. This tool is connected to the header J5 in the EVM. The EVM cannot be programmed by the USB connector.

Does it need to be the MSP-FET hardware programming tool or can we use a different jtag tool if we have one on hand?

Hi Deborah,

Unfortunately it is not possible. Some MSP have a 2 wire jtag interface (spi-by-wire) that you can use an MSP430 launchpad to program it but this MSP does not support it. The MSP FET hardware tool is required.

You can buy the tool from ti.com or another distributor. If your company has an assigned fields or sales TI representative, you can try to reach out to them to procure the tool.
