DRV8825: Stepper motor stalls with long wire

Hi,

I am working on a prototype to run multiple stepper motors and to quickly prototype I am using DRV8825 module. I am having trouble driving stepper motors with more than 2ft of wire from DRV8825. I am running the motor in full step mode to get faster speed. Is there a limitation on the length of wire for driving stepper motors with DRV8825? Any tips on how to run stepper motors with longer cables?

Hi Sam,

There is no limitation, at least not one restricted by the motor driver, on the cable length. Of course, the longer the cable, the higher the resistance of the cable. Have you checked the current with short and long cables? is it the same in both cases?
