DRV8300: DRV8323SRTAT

Part Number: DRV8300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8329, DRV8328, , DRV8323, DRV8303

We at Steris are making design decisions for upcoming motor controllers and I wanted to confirm that the TI driver ICs, specifically the DRV8303DCA and DRV8323SRTAT are recommended for new designs, active, and will continue to be supported and manufactured for many years to come? Also, can you please confirm and advise when we can expect better lead times for these parts? Thank you.

  • Hi William,

Great question. The DRV8303DCA is an old gate driver with 60V abs max and 1.7A/2.3A max source/sink gate current, and the DRV8323SRTAT is a mature gate driver with 60V abs max and 1A/2A source/sink gate current.

Both parts are on older process technology, which will have longer lead times due to supply and fab capabilities to support production for these devices on older process technology. Both devices though have no plans of EOL and will continue to be supported and manufactured for many years to come.

I highly recommend evaluating the DRV8328, DRV8329, and DRV8300 as hero gate drive devices with better device availability and shorter lead times over the next few years to come. These devices are on newer process technologies which will have higher throughput and more production. We are also working on next generation devices that will be on the same process technology so that BLDC gate driver solutions will be more readily available in the next 2-10 years.

Please evaluate these devices as replacement for DRV8303/DRV8323:

DRV8328 - 60V abs max low-cost bootstrap based gate driver with 1A/2A source/sink gate current

DRV832960V abs max low-cost bootstrap based gate driver with 1A/2A source/sink gate current, 1 integrated CSA

DRV8300 - 100V abs max low-cost bootstrap based gate driver with 0.75/1.5A source/sink gate current

What are your system requirements for your application? Voltage, current, interface, algorithm, protections, etc?

    Thanks,
    Aaron
