MCF8316A: MCF8316A_GUI 1.1.8 not able to install

Part Number: MCF8316A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8315A

Dear Team,

I tried installing the MCF8316A_GUI and encountered with the following error

  & "product_fullname_with_underscores = MCF8316A_GUI"

System configuration are as follows,

  • Windows 10 Pro
  • 64-bit operating system
  • Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1225 v5 @ 3.30GHz   3.31 GHz
  • 16.0 GB RAM

Thanks and Regards,

Sujeesh V

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Are you able to view/open the log file as shown in the warning message?

Could you please attach the log file if possible?

    Thanks,
    Eric C.

  • Hi Eric,

The last line of the file says "product_fullname_with_underscores = MCF8316A_GUI"

    MCF8316A_GUI_1.1.8.log

I have attached the file for your reference.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Thanks for providing your log file. The "product_fullname_with_underscores = MCF8316A_GUI" itself is not an error message since it is also present in my successful install log file. I've forwarded your issue to our GUI composer team, so please give me a couple days and I'll get back to you

In the mean time, could you please try running the GUI installer as admin and see if it helps? (Right click on the setup file -> Run as administrator)

    Regards,
    Eric C.

  • Hi Eric,

I tried "Run as administrator", but the result is same.

For your information, previously I installed V1.1.5 and I tried to upgrade from there to v1.1.8. I couldn't upgrade, so I uninstalled the same and started trying installing v1.1.8, and this issue started coming.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Could you please check your install directory below to see if the GUI app files were extracted into the temp folder?

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\05bbb7fb-3946-4c5b-60ab-2add46d1628f\MCF8316A_GUI

If yes, could you please try moving the MCF8316A_GUI folder one parent directory up into:

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11

getting rid of the temp directory "05bbb7fb-3946-4c5b-60ab-2add46d1628f"

Afterwards, try launching the GUI by running:

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\MCF8316A_GUI/launcher.exe

    Regards,
    Eric C.

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Do you need any more assistance? If not, please mark as Resolved.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Hi Eric,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of office and I had no access to the system.

These are the files and folders available in "gcruntime.v11" folder. There is no temp folder.

    gcruntime_11.0.0.20220830123204.log

I'm attaching the log for your reference.

I can see launcher.exe in these folders.

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\AppData\Local\Temp\4c42abe8-b5de-458a-70d2-9bb07186b902\MCF8316A_GUI\launcher.exe
    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\Downloads\MCF8316A_GUI_1.1.8_installer_win\install_image_MCF8316A_GUI\MCF8316A_GUI\launcher.exe

I tried running both exe as administrator, but nothing is happened.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Hi Sujeesh,

thanks for the additional data - we'll aim to have the team respond to your latest comments before end of week

    Best Regards,
    Andrew

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Could you please copy and paste the MCF8316A_GUI folder and all its contents

    from

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\AppData\Local\Temp\4c42abe8-b5de-458a-70d2-9bb07186b902\

    to

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\

Afterwards, try running the launcher.exe, making sure it resides in the following directory:

    • C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\MCF8316A_GUI/launcher.exe

Please let me know if you see any command windows or error messages that pops up when running the launcher.exe after copying the GUI files to the directory mentioned above.

    Regards,
    Eric C.

  • Hi Eric,

I'm really sorry again. I'm on my vacation for 2 weeks.

I'll provide my feedback once I'm back with my machine.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Thanks Sujeesh,

Our team is out of office today due to US Holiday, but will follow up tomorrow if needed.

Looking forward to hearing about your results!

    Best Regards,
    Andrew

  • Hi Eric,

Sorry I mistakenly clicked the resolution switch.

I copied the folder as requested

And ran the launcher. Nothing showed up. So, I ran it from CMD prompt.

    No errors and nothing launched.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Hi Sujeesh,

    Thanks for the update.

It looks like your MCF8316A_GUI folder is missing several other files. This is quite odd since the initial log file you provided did show those files being extracted.

Please give me some time to consult with our GUI Composer team and I'll get back to you.

On a side note, are you able to run the GUI successfully online using Chrome or Firefox browser (You need to install the browser extension and install the TICloudAgent)?

  • Hi Eric,

Yes, web GUI is working properly for me.

    Thanks,

    Sujeesh

  • Hi Sujeesh,

Let's try a different approach to make sure you have all the GUI app files in the right place by manually extracting the files from the installer zip:

    1. Delete the MCF8315A_GUI folder in your current gcruntime folder:
      C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\
    2. Extract the MCF8316A_GUI_1.1.8_installer_win.zip
    3. Extract the install_image_MCF8316A_GUI_1.1.8_installer_win.zip
    4. Copy the entire MCF8316A_GUI folder into your gcruntime folder:
      C:\Users\SUJEESH\guicomposer\runtime\gcruntime.v11\
    5. Try running launcher.exe again. It might take several seconds for the GUI splash screen to pop-up.

Please let me know if this still doesn't work.

    Regards,
    Eric C.

  • Hi Eric,

    Thanks for the help.

I uninstalled the runtime and deleted all folders and files related to MCF8316A GUI. And reinstalled the runtime and MCF8316A_GUI.

    Now it is working properly.

    Regards,

    Sujeesh
