DRV8245-Q1: overcurrent

Part Number: DRV8245-Q1

Hi team,

Could you please help answer 2 questions?

1. When high-side recirculation, will the ITRIP limit the motor current? I think it is no, we see a large current beyond ITRIP caused by BEMF.

2. Will IPROPI voltage > 5.75V when output is shorted and the current is near the abs. 32A? I think it is a current mirror circuit and at this time it will be equal to VDD.

Best,
Zeming

  • Hi Zeming san

    1. When motor current detect more than ITRIP threshold level during 1:Drive current, DRV move to 4:High slide slow decay(High side recirculation) to stop increasing current.

So normally motor current should be reduced during 4.

Now back to your question. During high-side recirculation, ITRIP should be limiting the motor current. I think BEMF cannot increase motor current during High side recirculation.

Even during HS recirculation, Over current detection is active. FYI.

2.IPROPI pin has clamp diode. So voltage will be limited up to 5.5V even if motor current gets higher.
