DRV2605: Two DRV2605 control of the same I2C && the VDD ripple in start

Part Number: DRV2605

1. The customer considers to control two groups of DRV2605 with the same i2C which depends on the control of the DRV2605 EN pin

. According to the datasheet description, when one DRV2605 EN pin is set low, it will not respond to the I2C signal.

I don't know if this method is feasible.

2. The customer reported that when the DRV2605 started to start the LRA motor,

the power supply voltage VDD of the DRV2605 had too high Ripple. Is this normal?

Is there anything that can be done to improve this phenomenon?

(such as VDD parallel large capacitor)

  • Hi Fabio,

Typically we recommend to use an I2C multiplexer when using multiple DRV26xx devices. however I think is it feasible to do this with the EN pin. the only thing that needs to be kept in mind is that the device will still ACK at its I2C address even when the EN pin is low.

the individual control of multiple devices could also be done using the IN/TRIG pin.

A certain amount of ripple is expected, if the ripple is causing the VDD to dip below 2.5 V then this risks a brownout event. it could be solved with a larger decoupling capacitor as you mentioned
