DRV8425: External Sense Resistor

Part Number: DRV8425

Hi Team,

We are planning to add this 0.25 ohm resistor as shown below in series to the PGND, and were wondering if the internal current sense resistor  (shown by the arrow) could be effected by it?

Thanks!

Connor

  • Connor,

What is the intent of adding these resistors as all the current regulation is built into the DRV8425?

There are no internal current sense resistors directly in the power path, so technically this idea will work.  We just have to be careful to limit the voltage drop across this resistor to +/-300mV to avoid turning on internal leakage paths that could damage the IC.

    Regards,
