DRV8701: Current protection

Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

As per the section 7.3.3 Current Regulation of datasheet, the drive current can be set by setting Vref and Rsense 

If the motor is stalled, the current increases beyond the set current value. At this time, dose the internal current protection work or does it require to stop driving the motor?

If the chip internal protection is working, how is it achieved?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

    Yes, if the current regulation limit is set such that the stall current is above this limit, the device will regulate the current.
