DRV2605: Floating the In/Trigger pin?

Hello,

The DRV2605 data sheet says that when the in/trigger pin is not in use, it "should" be tied to ground. Can I get clarification on this?

If I float this pin, it would allow a lower technology class on my PCB by letting me remove the pad and route the SDA line out through the gap. Will this cause any issues? Is grounding the in/trigger pin required, or simply recommended?

Hi Alan,

Yes, the suggestion is to GND this pin, but it should be ok to leave floating as long as you keep the MODE register set to "0: Internal trigger". The part will take no action on the TRIG pin when MODE = 0.
