MCF8316A: MCF8316A Pin function difference from MCF8316AEVM

Have a good day!

My customer meets a question on the pin function difference between MCF8316A and MCF8316AEVM, mainly on Pin36-39. In MCF8316AEVM schematic, Pin36-38 is DACOUT and SOX, but in MCF8316A datasheet, Pin36,37,39 is NC and Pin38 is SOX. I notice that part number in EVM is MCF8316A0VRGFR, but the part number in datasheet is MCF8316A1VRGFR. Could you help give some comments here?

The schematic symbol is not updated in the MCF8316A EVM so please ignore the schematic symbol and follow the pinout mentioned in the MCF8316A datasheet. We have added the schematic symbol for MCF8316A1VRGFR in the Altium library.

So are there any other difference between MCF8316A1 and MCF8316A0? If we ignore the 36-39Pin, can we still evaluate normal function on the EVM?

And another question is do we have a new version EVM board design based on MCF8316A1VRGFR? Many thanks!

Sherman,

MCF8316A0 is the APL device and MCF8316A1 is RTM device. All our MCF8316AEVMs purchased after Jan 2022 should have the RTM device populated on them. The MCF8316AEVM should work perfectly fine on the RTM device. We do not have any plans to revise our MCF8316AEVM.
