DRV8908-Q1: SPI Config_Control stay 0

Part Number: DRV8908-Q1

Hi Expert,

Here is a question raised from my customer. When they read the CONFIG_CTRL(addr=0x07), the outout is 0.

From my perspective, when we reset the DRV8908-Q1 or power on DRV8908-Q1, the value of the register is 0x00. We need to write the CONFIG_CTRL to set the IC_ ID, right?

If it is convenient for you, would mind sharing the waveform of SPI based on DRV8908-Q1 with me? I has ordered an EVM, but it will cost several days for me to receive. Customer is a little anxious about the result.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Kind Regards

Imelda

  • Imelda,

Please see screen shot below from the datasheet:

IC_ID is READ only.  You can see the "R" in the "Type" column.  Customer should read back "010" for this if they have a DRV8908-Q1.  You can't write to these bits.  Other bits will return "0" until written, but IC_ID should not be "000" if they have a DRV8908-Q1.

There are example waveforms in the datasheet for SPI read/write.

    Regards,

    Ryan
