MCF8316A: Update on release timeline for new revision of MCF8316A (MCF8316B?)

Hello,

We're now nearing the end of Q1 of 2023, can we get an update on the release timeline?

This information would be really useful for me, as I am currently still evaluating whether to continue using this chip. As it stands, the current version of the chip is inadequate for my needs due to the I2C not working when the motor is running (See errata #8 of https://e2e.ti.com/support/motor-drivers-group/motor-drivers/f/motor-drivers-forum/1066777/faq-production-device-information )

Hi Timothy,

We recently released MCF8315A which has the I2C communication errata fixed. We currently do not have plans to release MCF8316B. Please refer to below link that shows the similarities and differences between MCF8316A and MCF8315A. Both devices are pin to pin compatible so no schematic or layout changes required.

Hi Vishnu,
MCF8315A has 4A peak, which is not adequate for our needs. Our motor requires 5A peak.

If there is no intention to release a new update or revision of MCF8316A, then I suggest you update the datasheet for this device. Right now this datasheet is very misleading regarding its capabilities.

When I am researching new devices, I generally trust that the provided datasheet contains an accurate description of the device. I have now learned that I can no longer trust TI's datasheets.
