DRV8876: Driver Design Suggestions for a brushed DC Motor

Part Number: DRV8876

Hello Team,

Please help me out with your valuable suggestions and feedback. The design is still in the theoretical phase. It is known that system level testing is essential for the best case scenario performance. But I am looking for some on-paper advice for a starting point that would help better the design. Here are some questions:

  1. What is the value of the best case bulk capacitance to be chosen, how do we come up with the value (capacitance and voltage rating) for this motor? considering the back emf/ coasting current coming back to input DC rail. In the datasheet, the info about bulk capacitance is generic.
  2. What is the best capacitor technology to be chosen for the best performance and durability?
  3. Series Motor inductance value chosen for the application is 150 uH, any suggestions in case of changes when used with this driver IC?
  4. Noise suppression circuit has been added into the design to mitigate switching noise and External capacitors on the motor to redice RF noise. Your valuable comments on it? If it is necessary or the IC is any capable of handling noise performance? frequency planned at 100 kHz in PWM mode.

Thanks in advance.
