MCF8315A: Register Transition in GUI from MCF8316A to MCF8315A

Part Number: MCF8315A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8316A

Hi team,

I am trying to load the json file which is created and used for MCF8316A onto MCF8315A and modify the changed resistor. But there is an error in connection.

Is MCF8315A_GUI able to handle as so? Or the register setting should be input manually?

FYI, the situation is below.

When any command to access to EVM, such as WRITE TO EEPROM, there is "Connectivity Issue" with message "There is an issue with the device connectivity. Please restart the GUI."

At the MCF8316A_GUI, this message is shown sometimes, but they can proceed after reset. At the MCF8315A_GUI, no successful connection by now.

Best regards,

Hayashi

    Hi Hayashi,

Your fault was same to me!

  • Hi Nguyen,

This doesn't happen in the other EVM. I don't know why but, could you please tell me if I can reuse MCF8316A setting with a few modifying at GUI?

    Above message is shown.

  • Hi Hayashi-san,

Since there are some differences in the register map between the MCF8316A and MCF8315A, you wouldn't be able to load the json settings from the MCF8316A GUI into the MCF8315A GUI. I would recommend running both GUIs side by side, and manually copy over the register settings in the All Tuning Settings page from the MCF8316A to the MCF8315A.
