Hello,
We are using the DRV8301 to run a BLDC motor at 8V. The system runs off a Li-Ion battery (3.6V nominal) and we boost up to 8V to supply power to the DRV8301 PVDD1 and PVDD2 pins, with a large capacitor bank to help manage any fluctuations on the line. Occasionally, our motor has high torque situations where it draws large amounts of current from the battery at once, and the battery struggles to hold up its voltage. In these cases, we find that the 8V line coming from our 8V boost circuit can temporarily drop below 6V.
When this occurs, the DRV8301 becomes unresponsive and we have to power cycle in order to re-establish connection and to be able to drive the motor once again. I am worried that what we may be seeing is this specific condition from the datasheet (section 7.3.4.2)
We have tried toggling EN_Gate as suggested in the datasheet, but it doesn't seem to resolve the issue.
Does your team have any recommendations on how we can resolve this? I would prefer to work with your team offline if possible without publishing to the forum since this is a private project. If we can discuss this via email, I can provide more detailed information including Oscilloscope shots.
Thank You,
Noah
